Bio

Lindsay J. Pryor is a speculative fiction author published by Hachette U.K. She is the author of the dark, gritty and complex dystopian BLACKTHORN series. Her spin-off LOWTOWN standalone novels are underway as well as her upcoming romantic Gothic horror.

Discovered after being a twice-finalist in an international romance writing competition, Lindsay’s Blackthorn series really captured the imagination of her publisher as a fantastically vivid, complex and multi-layered dystopian world, one which readers will utterly lose themselves in.

With six-figure sales, Lindsay’s Blackthorn series has regularly topped Amazon’s US and UK Gothic Romance charts where it has reached #1 on numerous occasions. Books from her series have also reached #1 in five sub-genres of Paranormal Romance, including being a #1 Vampire Romance bestseller in both the UK and the US. Her debut was a #1 ‘Most Wished For’ Paranormal Romance on Amazon UK. Blackthorn has achieved success in the main kindle charts too, reaching the Top 50 in the US, the Top 20 in Canada, and has skirted the Top 100 on Amazon UK.

Lindsay has been creating stories since she was nine years old, when she quickly decided that fantasy was more interesting than reality. She thought she’d grow out of it but, more than thirty years later, writing remains her passion.

Lindsay holds a BSc Honours degree in Psychology and Communication and two post graduate qualifications. She is a qualified Psychology lecturer and English teacher. Before becoming a full-time author, Lindsay taught for eighteen years, primarily to improve literacy for children with special needs. She was born and grew up in Wales but now lives in England with her husband and a plethora of wild woodland creatures. She is a keen supporter of animal welfare.

BLACKTHORN is published by Bookouture. Her LOWTOWN novels and upcoming romantic Gothic horror are being published by Piatkus (Little, Brown Book Group).

Hi Lindsay I see you have your own ‘Caleb’ – was he KoL inspired? 😉 x

Hey, Lindsey. No, this Caleb was pre my KoL infatuation. The voice and lyrics certainly helped with the Blood Roses rewrite though. 😉 x

Hi Sharon. Thanks so much for your comment – and I just picked up your message on Facebook too. I’m thrilled you’ve enjoyed Blackthorn so far. I’ve always wanted more Brit input into the genre as we are severely lacking, so it’s fantastic to know you feel the same. To be called an inspiration is very flattering. If I encourage more Brit writers to try and break into the genre, then that’s just wonderful. Thank my publisher, Bookouture – they’ve backed me all the way. Great to ‘meet’ you. 🙂

Hi Lindsay,
I am pretty picky about which books I download on my Kindle (like a lot of people, not having a lot of time to read). I lucked out when your book(s) popped up and I thought, what the neck, a new author, why not try? I read the first page of Blood Shadows and KNEW it was a winner! After reading a few pages I was like, “Her writing style is different, I wonder if she’s British?” It wasn’t confirmed until I finished the first book. I feel so incredibly lucky and you know why? I get to read two more!!! You’re such a talented writer and storyteller and it’s been so long that I’ve read something I couldn’t put down and if I had to, to hurry up and get back to (if that makes sense) You ROCK Lindsay!!!

I do hope you enjoy Blood Roses and Blood Torn as much. And lol, yes, what you said made perfect sense. 🙂 I really appreciate your kind words. Thanks hugely for stopping by to share your thoughts. Yay to me rocking! *happy dance*

OMG….I just read all 4 books in the past week. Yes…. they were that good. I haven’t been this enthusiastic about a new series since first picking up a J.R Ward or Darynda Jones book. Very rarely do I write a review but holy crud muffins I am impressed so now I will try to be patient for book 5. Thank -you so very much for giving me a much needed mental vacation from my hectic mommy/work life.

Welcome to Blackthorn, Naomi! I’m thrilled you’ve enjoyed all my books so far. It’s always immensely flattering to be mentioned in the same sentence as some great PNR authors. And you’ve reviewed Blackthorn too? Thank you SO much. <3 I truly appreciate you taking the time to do that - especially with what sounds like a busy enough life already! I'm just super-pleased to know Blackthorn has given you some headspace. I really hope you enjoy Blood Dark as much. Thanks hugely for stopping by to comment.

I just finished reading Blood Deep and it was awesome. Your creativity and imagination are amazing! I love this series cant wait for the next installment. I’ll just have to be Patient and keep myself occupied until the summer (2015). I love the couples how they love each other so deeply and work beautifully together. I also love how the story is coming together drawing me in deeper and deeper is like I’m watching a movie. So exciting!

I’m thrilled you enjoyed Blood Deep, and I’m so pleased you’re enjoying seeing it all come together. It’s so rewarding for me to have been able to draw readers into this point of the series where you can really see that start to happen. Thanks for reading my books and for taking the time to let me know what you think of them.

Hi Lindsay
Just touching base again and wanted to let you how much I enjoyed the Blackthorn series. What I really love, especially with Kane and Caleb’s character is that although they are obsessed with their lady they are still authentic and not falling over with undying love. I love the tension and the fact that we are unsure what will happen next. I hope you continue to write as realistic as possible as it drives me crazy to read a book and this tough guy, ultra alpha, sexy male all of a sudden can’t do anything without them. I like how Caitlin has gone back to work and look forward to the challenges ahead between her and Kane. I love the sexual tension, passion and lust involved. I love the intensity of it and afterwards they are still on a mission that will cause conflict. If you continue to write like this the question will always be OMG what is going to happen next. As I stated in one of my earlier comments I have reread this series 4 times and I’m truly anxious for Blood Dark. Sooooooooo when is the release date.

Barbara, you leave such lovely messages! <3 Thank you! I absolutely adore your summary of why you're enjoying Blackthorn so much, and I certainly endeavour to retain what are clearly shared principles for us when it comes to maintaining the 'realism' of my series. I love that you're so anxious for Blood Dark. I promise it won't be too much longer before I can tell you the release date. I won't keep you waiting a second longer than I have to. Thank you SO much, again, for your patience. Xx
